Ingredients: Serves 4-6
• 1 Beef Brisket (flat end trimmed, about 2 ½ -3 lbs.)
• Fire Roasted™ Steak & Grill seasoning
• 2 Tbsp vegetable oil, divided
• 1 (14 oz) can beef broth
• 2 Tbsp liquid smoke
At least 2 hours prior to cooking, rub brisket with one tablespoon vegetable oil. Evenly sprinkle seasoning over entire brisket, pressing seasoning into the meat. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add vegetable oil and, once heated, add the seasoned brisket. Carefully brown the brisket for approximately three minutes on each side. In a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish, combine beef broth and liquid smoke. Place the brisket in fat side up. Cover pan with aluminum foil and place in oven. Bake for 3 ½- 4 hours, or until tender. (Brisket is done when a fork is entered and pulls out with little resistance.) Remove from oven and place on cutting board. Let brisket stand 10 minutes before slicing. (Always slice brisket across the grain.) To make Au Jus, stir ¾ cup water into the pan drippings. Serve brisket with Au Jus on the side.
